Also, Nintendo is trying to get you to buy another console. I think what they’ve done, make a shitty update, is the biggest reason I’ll stick to PC gaming. I can always get a previous patch on a PC game. But I can’t do it on a Nintendo game.

Dielan so, I didn’t know about this other thing Nintendo is doing. But they’re basically saying even legal ownership has an acceptable kill switch trigger. If you use anything other than the Nintendo brand cartridge, like a digital version of your library on an SSD, it can and will trigger the perma brick setting. Which apparently even Nintendo can’t override.

SkoomaDealer its a pretty dark pattern but I was aware of this one already. I think the terms of service on playstation and Xbox also enables this but Nintendo is the only company actively bricking their product in the wild

I'm not too worried about my kids getting their future consoles bricked cuz I just won't buy a MIG, but what's stopping Nintendo from bricking consoles for saying mean words on Nintendos new chat system? What if the mics are always hot and they hear wrongthink? It's conspiracy territory but why tolerate giving them that power in the first place?
