Seems Marathon isn't Concord 3 after all. Good for them. Not sure if Sony will keep Bungie either open or allow them to have the number of developers they have with numbers like this. They paid big for a new live service pillar of business. Not sure that's quite what they have here. Especially when it continues to lag behind Arc Raiders on player counts like this.

Meanwhile, concurrent player count means nothing to a single player game other than current popularity (not sales, I have plenty of games I own and never launched personally lol) but Crimson Desert continues to do very very well.

Kind of sounds like to me that Crimson Desert really is a Tears-of-the-kingdom-like game that isn't kept in a cage by Nintendo lol

Another interesting observation:

Looking at opencritic, Marathon and Crimson desert are scored very similarly. Crimson desert has 10 more critics in the pool

Even though IGN and friends were so harsh on it, and it has the mathematical burden of more critic reviews influencing the average than Marathon has, it's still one point off only.

Looks like NTE publically commited to removing the AI generated background assets after all

This won't stop all the luddites from claiming every last part of the game is tainted with AI but I do see this as an escalation of what the masses will accept. E33 was literally a single lamppost with a reasonable cover story of the DALL-E era, Crimson Desert left multiple paintings in, and now NTE has billboards and animated fake ads. What's next?

The internet seems to be seething about Stellar Blade 2. Seems they are accusing it of using AI but their only evidence is some background gibberish that only resembles Chinese text

It's almost like they didn't play the original game. The entire point was the androids were so far separated from humanity they mistakenly believed they were the humans. I'm not convinced it's not organic, human-made gibberish

Some also point out to some of the windows and Evie's hands in the key art at the end of the trailer. It's a weak accusation at best. I will be buying

High level recap / note to self about E3 week:

Sony - didn't bother watching. New God Of War with retcon kratos' wife I guess

Xbox - No new console announced, but series X seems to have a long life ahead. New Halo looks decentish, new Gears is a return to form, also P4 and P6

Nintendo - they really wanted to show the world their new console can do things, so most announcements were old titles like devil may cry 5 and dragons dogma 2. Also they announced KH4 and ocarina of time remake back to back. Baller move tbh

SGF - decent collection of trailers, ended on FF7.

FGF - only game I remember was some sci-fi racer

PC Gamer - cringe bro

Cozy - more politics and yapping than trailers somehow
